In May 2017, Jim Callery was awarded Europe’s top honour in the heritage field – a prestigious European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Award for the “restoration and establishment of the world-renowned National Famine Museum & Archivewhich has been the largest act of private philanthropy for cultural heritage in the history of modern Ireland”.
