Accessibility

We offer a welcome to all at at The National Famine Museum | Strokestown Park and strive to make the house, museum, gardens and our events as accessible to visitors as possible.

Wheelchair Access

The National Famine Museum, Woodland Café and gift shop and our Visitor Centre are all wheelchair accessible.

There is wheelchair access to the ground floor of the house, and staff will be happy to assist if any help is needed. Due to the nature of the original structure, we regret that access to the first floor of the house is restricted; however, we have information on these rooms available in a folder at the welcome desk, which our staff can share with you during your visit.

Garden Surfaces

Our Gardens at Strokestown Park are surfaced with gravel and suitable for wheelchairs and buggies. The Woodland Walk has uneven surfaces. For those with mobility issues, conditions are variable depending on the weather. Please contact a staff member for more information in advance of your visit.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in the house, grounds, museum, shop and café. Water is provided outside for visiting dogs. For the comfort and safety of other visitors, dogs should be kept on a short lead at all times.

Café and Catering

Our Woodland Café menu is designed to welcome visitors with a variety of dietary needs. Details of our menu are regularly updated on our Woodland Café page.

Parking

We have ample free parking for cars and coaches and coach groups are very welcome. We also offer dedicated parking spaces for holders of disabled parking permits.

Events & Venue Hire

When we are planning events at Strokestown Park, we strive to make them as accessible as possible and include information about accessibility in our event details. If you are organising or attending an event at Strokestown Park, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have so that we can ensure you and your guests have a great experience during your visit.
